Accessing Therapy in the Glasgow City Centre
If you work in the city centre, you already know how hard it can be to find time for yourself between the commute, meetings and deadlines. Our Buchanan Street clinic is close enough to fit a visit into your lunch break, and evening slots are available if lunchtime does not suit you. Around half of the people we see choose online or telephone sessions instead, particularly if they live outside Glasgow city centre or prefer a comfortable environment.

Mental Health Support in Glasgow
The Scottish Health Survey 2024 found that 16% of adults reported two or more symptoms of anxiety and 10% reported symptoms of depression. Women being the ones with significantly more likely to be affected by anxiety than men (18% compared with 13%). Public Health Scotland reported that only 82.1% of people started NHS psychological therapies within 18 weeks of referral for the quarter ending December 2025. At The Talking Rooms, most people are offered an assessment within five working days of getting in touch.
Those numbers show how common this is. Behind each one is a person who, at some point, decided they deserved support. Mental health difficulties and traumatic experiences do not follow neat lines, and the people who seek counselling are from every walk of life. If you are here, you are probably at that point too. Reaching out is not always easy, but taking that step is one of the most important decisions you can make for yourself.

Real Stories. Real Support.
Tracey made me feel so at ease. She has a very calming voice and after even my first session I was feeling that little bit better. By the last session, I was pretty gutted because I had started to look forward to the hour and picking apart my thoughts and feelings from the past week. This is the sign of a very good counsellor. Thank you ☺️

FAQs About Talking Therapy in Glasgow
Starting psychotherapy is a big step, and it is natural to have questions.
Here are some of the most common questions people ask before getting in touch with our practice.
Yes. Being well connected by bus, train, and subway means people come in during their lunch hour. We offer evening appointments by video call or telephone, so you do not need to take time off work. Around half of our clients choose online therapy, and many find that being in a familiar environment actually helps them feel safe opening up.
Our sessions follow the same professional structure as in-person sessions, and your counsellor will build trust by checking in regularly to make sure the format is working well for you.
Most people are not sure, and that is completely understandable. Cognitive behavioural therapy suits people who want a structured approach with coping strategies for managing thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Psychotherapy in Glasgow tends to suit people who want a deeper understanding of why they feel this way.
Integrative counselling sits somewhere between the two, drawing on approaches that support your psychological wellbeing. Your counsellor will guide you through this openly, and the approach adapts as your personal growth and individual needs develop over time.
The process begins with a free 15-minute telephone consultation, a genuinely informal call where you can share a little about what is going on, and we can talk through your situation and explore the solutions that feel right for you.
If you decide to go ahead, an initial £50 assessment session gives you and your counsellor the chance to understand your personal goals and agree on a plan. There is no obligation to commit to anything upfront, so that you can come with an open mind. We also work by phone and video, alongside clinics in Southside Glasgow and East Kilbride.
