Our Approach to CBT Therapy for Adults
At The Talking Rooms, therapy is delivered with compassion and care. Every member of our team will take the time to understand what you’re experiencing before tailoring a plan that works for you.
Most of our CBT therapists are accredited by BABCP, BACP, or COSCA, meaning they’ve met national standards for training, supervision, and ethics. This ensures your treatment is both professional and evidence-based.
We aim to see new clients within five working days of referral, offering flexible face-to-face appointments at our Glasgow and East Kilbride clinics or online sessions for those who prefer convenience.
Each treatment plan is designed around your goals, using cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness techniques, and person-centred counselling where appropriate.

Real Stories. Real Support.
Tracey made me feel so at ease. She has a very calming voice and after even my first session I was feeling that little bit better. By the last session, I was pretty gutted because I had started to look forward to the hour and picking apart my thoughts and feelings from the past week. This is the sign of a very good counsellor. Thank you ☺️

What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for adults is an evidence-based, structured form of therapy. It may help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected. When one of these areas changes, the others often follow, creating lasting improvements in how you are feeling day to day.
Support for Individuals
At The Talking Rooms, we offer CBT for adults in Glasgow and online to support those experiencing anxiety, depression, low mood, stress, or low self-esteem. You’ll work one-to-one with an experienced cognitive behavioural therapist who helps you recognise unhelpful thoughts and develop practical tools to manage them.
Crisis Service
Please note we operate Monday to Friday 9 am-5 pm, and we are not classified as a crisis service. If you feel that your life or someone else’s life is in crisis, then please contact one of these leading crisis organisations.

How Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Works
CBT focuses on how your thoughts influence your emotions and behaviours. It’s rooted in modern psychology and helps you identify the patterns that keep you feeling stuck. Instead of spending long periods exploring the past, CBT teaches you how to make meaningful changes in the present to feel calmer and more confident.
Get in Touch
Your first consultation is free. Fill out the form on this page or call us on 0141 459 0011. We will get back to you promptly and talk through what you are looking for and the help you need.
Figuring out Thoughts
Your thoughts influence how you feel and react in your day-to-day life. When those thoughts become destructive, they can lead to emotional distress, avoidance, or self-doubt. Your therapist will help you notice these patterns and challenge them.
Build New Habits
Each session is goal-focused and tailored to your individual needs, sometimes blending Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) or an integrative approach for deeper assistance when needed. Through CBT, you’ll learn to replace old habits with realistic perspectives that build awareness of your thinking habits.
What to Expect in Your Sessions

FAQs About Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Thinking about starting cognitive behaviour therapy? We have answered some of the common client questions.
Yes. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is often used as a follow-up for people who’ve recovered from depression or social anxiety. It can help you to be attentive to early warning signs of pessimistic or self-critical thinking and aid you in responding calmly instead of automatically.
Studies show MBCT can lower relapse rates by up to 43%, making it a valuable long-term tool for sustaining wellbeing.
Most people attend between six and twenty sessions. Your therapist will review the goals you’ve set regularly to ensure you’re progressing at a steady pace.
Most adults begin to notice small shifts within four to six therapy sessions, especially when practising skills and planned techniques between appointments. A full course typically lasts 6-20 sessions, depending on your progress.
Cognitive behavioural therapy is a collaborative process, so your therapist will review how things are going and make changes to your treatment plan to make sure you’re getting the most benefit.
Yes. Any information you share is kept private and protected under strict professional and ethical standards. At The Talking Rooms, confidentiality helps create a safe space for you to speak openly about anxiety, low mood, or other challenges.
Details from your cognitive behaviour therapy sessions are never shared without your knowledge or consent. You’ll always be informed if this situation arises, so you remain in control of your care.
